Hello.
My name is Cheryl. I am the founder of the website Growing Older Gracefully. This website was created to provide helpful information from various sources for seniors or anyone else who wants to age gracefully and doesn’t want to age painfully and become a burden to family and friends.
MY STORY
Reaching retirement age, I have come to the realization that there may be more of my lifetime behind me than ahead of me. According to Psalm 90:10, The King James Version, “The days of our years are threescore years and ten, and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet in their strength labour and sorrow, for it is soon cut off, and we fly away”.
Each morning I wake up in sound mind and body is a blessing and a gift from God.
With the help, expertise and advice from others, both professional and personal, I want to (and I’m sure you do as well) live the rest of my life to the fullest in a sound mind and body.
WHY I WANT TO HELP MYSELF AND OTHERS
According to Healthy People 2030 at health.gov:
Older adults are at higher risk for chronic health problems like diabetes, osteoporosis, and Alzheimer’s disease. In addition,1 in 3 older adults fall each year, and falls are a leading cause of injury for this age group. Physical activity can help older adults prevent both chronic disease and fall-related injuries.
Some of the most common health problems in the elderly include:
- Cognitive decline. …
- Balance issues. …
- Oral health problems. …
- Heart disease. …
- Osteoarthritis or osteoporosis. …
THE GOAL OF THIS SITE
Growing older gracefully means bringing more joy and happiness into your life. Letting go of the complications of aging and accepting the inevitability of getting older. Learning how to properly care for our mind and body to the best of our abilities will enable us to be our best at any age; living a truly fulfulling life.
Thank you very much for the time it took for you to read this.
